DayZ – Real Chernarus

(IMPORTANT NOTE:
First of all I would like to reassure all those who may feel offended by this post. If you believe that any of these photos may offend you, please send me an email with the information about it and I will remove them immediately info@dayzblog.com.
The Czech Republic is a great nation, rich in history and territories of exceptional beauty. I think that should be visited to appreciate its beauty, traditions, breathtaking landscapes, people, monuments and not to make a pilgrimage to see the places where it is set Dayz. Do not go to these places to see the Dayz’ barns or look for a zombie, several people may be offended and irritated by this unpleasant invasion. Go to the Czech Republic .. do not go to Chernarus.)

DayZ – A quiet week

After being killed by man in ghillie suit I started my new apocalyptic adventure and as usual I’ve got the basic equipment in a city.
Then I headed into the area where I had been killed. I continue to believe that this is a perfect area to survive because you can find everything within a few kilometers. This week I have lived in the woods and exploring the various places, I’ve never had problems in finding food and drink and the ammunition were not a problem. Currently I have a AKS 74 – Kobra, a revolver (very good weapon) and during the explorations I replaced my ALICE backpack,found in the Cherno store, with Coyote Backpack. One night I decided to go further and explore a big city and especially the local hospital. Under cover of darkness was able to easily explore the west area, the hospital had the windows broken, and this was an indication that someone was already there but with surprise in one of the boxes of medicines I found a packet of antibiotics. After this great discovery and I headed back in the woods.

Nothing happened other than some far shoots and a car passed on the road at high speed and heading north-west.

DayZ – Personal thoughts

After playing many hours Dayz and after finding my way in this apocalyptic world I would like to share with you readers my personal thoughts about this wonderful mod.
In my life I’ve played many games and only one can compete with Dayz regarding the intensity of emotions aroused: EVE Online.
I am a veteran of EVE Online and in Dayz I found again the tension in dealing with another player, the adrenaline rush killing an opponent, the terror of not knowing what you expect in a few moments, the gratification of exploring unknown places. In a few months Dayz has matched subscriptions of EVE Online (the sandbox for excellence) and this can not be an accident.
Many points are in favor of Dayz:
1) Even alone you can be successful . This was true for EVE online a few years ago but after the changes in the mechanics of the game is no longer possible to play EVE Online and be successful alone.
2) Dayz is very real while in EVE online have recently introduced the human characters and in any case there is still no interaction between them.
3) In Dayz you lose everything if you die, but it is easy to regain the lost items. In EVE there is insurance but to be competitive you must have items of high value and losing a ship several billion worth is frustrating.
4) many other reasons that it is better not to face here;)

In DayZ website are well highlighted three steps:
- scavenge
- slay
- survive

Scavenge:
Equip does not require further action such as building, mining, learn skills, experience points, etc.
You just have to go somewhere and search without being seen by zombies or survivors. What really matters is the player and not the character.

Slay:
You can choose to only kill the zombies or the other survivors.
You can kill only those who have good equipment or you can kill everyone on sight. You can even choose to remain in the shadows and avoid any kind of encounter. In Dayz if you meet an hostile group the fight is more balanced, is a real gunfight while in EVE Online is ALWAYS all against one, and becomes only a matter of time and luck if you die or live.
In Dayz is very easy to kill someone with better gear than yours.

Survive:
In Dayz you can live without any special features. You only need some matches, a hatchet and you can live forever. Also only surviving is interesting because you have to find food and water and this implies an interaction with the world of Dayz.

Finally, there is no endgame in Dayz … you just have to survive as long as possible. No matter the equipment you own … what matters is the minute that you can be in the game without dying.

DayZ Day 1 Calm down!

It all starts here in DayZ … on a beach. I’m confused and the sun is blinding me. I look around to see where I am … what day is it … but I only have a lot of confusion in my head. I hear a far scream my blood runs cold in my veins. I have to go away quickly from this beach because it’s too exposed and the zombies are all over. The adrenaline rush  reminded me where I am and my military background leads me to seek a safe hiding place to the Drobyy’s Hill forest north of my position.

Move! I said in my mind and immediately my muscles contract.

Low profile! Low profile! The gun in my right hand, ready to fire, crouched and proceed up the hill.

I have to cross the wide road that left leads to Elektrozavodsk. It is not an action I take lightly and be sure not to be seen by anyone … nor from infected and even less from bandits.

To my right I do not see any movement and on my left, not so far, I notice a series of figures in motion. I’m pretty far away and probably anyone and anything do not notice me. I counted in my mind to three and I move to the hill. Is a four-lane road and got halfway I realize that if I can get across without being noticed is a miracle … I do not stop and continued to peer at my sides.

Suddenly a screams coming from my left freezed me. A lot of movement near a low building. “I’ve been discovered!” was my first thought and I’m preparing to take to the trees on the hill but a second, more thoughtful look, show me a chilling scene. A man is trying to escape from a horde of infected and almost upon him. In the frenzy of the flight I can count five, and the poor man desperately tries to avoid them running. He goes to another building, but just before entering he slips and the horde was upon him.

Move it! Said me a trembling voice in my mind. And it do not need to tell me twice. A few steps away and I start to climb the hill, protected by vegetation.

I’m safe?
